Chapter Activities

Whilst in the minds of most, Walton's name is primarily associated with angling, there was much more to the man. His philosophies in what are now generally referred to as "environmental" issues are fundamental to the Izaak Walton League of America.

Activities of the UK Chapter and at the Cottage, both of non-angling as well as an angling nature are listed in the "Stop Press" section.

The overall Chapter conservation programme is aimed at meeting, in the years ahead, the UK needs.

Briefly summarised, we plan to support and promote:

• Developing and protecting National Parks and natural areas,
• Removing pollution and stopping inappropriate drainage methods,
• Fish conservation (river, stream and lake improvements),
• Wildlife conservation (i.e. habitat, food and cover improvements),
• Improving public attitudes (i.e. anti-litter, sportsman/landowner),
• Youth activities (i.e. schools, youngster groups, other organisations).
