The Wider Picture
There seems to be no doubt that, under the present regime, we are going to see funds for the Cottage under serious threat. Rate capping prevents the Council from raising extra funds and museums cannot make an entry charge.
The only solution that we see is that we will have to raise the funds and, somehow or other, introduce a structure which allows us to bale out the Cottage, keep it afloat and make it more seaworthy for any future storms.
The wonderful support that we have received from many USA Chapters of the Izaak Walton League of America has primed the pumps but we will have to do most of the pumping ourselves.
Probably our biggest need at present is “publicity”. We are confident that there are many like minded people in the UK who, when they become aware of the situation, will be happy to help. This is the main thinking behind this web page.
We will update these web pages regularly (keep your eye on the
"Stop Press" page) so that you are aware of progress, of any changes in the current situation and in the plans for the Cottage.
